The Fire Pit P.T was started about three years ago initially it was started off as a confused jump park / mini MTB park the track evolved into P.T after seen what was happening overseas and Europe and the States. For the amount of time spent developing the P.T is probably getting towards 70 to 100 hours possibly more…
I can’t think of another type of mountain bike/cycle track which has such a wide audience like P.T’s the potential for P.T to pull more people into cycling is huge. I have noticed in the past year the progression of my communities cycling skills ramp up from little kids through to seasoned mountain bikers the enthusiasm is just going from strength to strength.
Keep track of Fire Pit PT on twitter
Video of the track not so good, but you get the idea

Nice work Digger!
Coming up from ChCh in the holidays can i just roll up and ride it???
Yea mate, definitely drop by and have a ride, make sure you’ve got some DJ tyers it will be less hard on the pumptrack and you will be faster as well. Let me know when you are coming through and I can give you some tips on riding pumptracks if you like. I also have a Santa Cruz pumptrack bike you are more than welcome to have a rip on. drop me a line at pt@firepit.co.nz Cheers Damian
Hey Damian – I read about the PT in Spoke and figured I’d try and get some more info on it. I have been hassling the Mrs about building one in the back yard since we moved to NZ a year ago (and after checking out Leelikesbikes webite 3 or 4 years ago) but had no joy, so I cant believe that they are now building one up Codgers tracks in Nelson (council funded I think) and that your bad ass track is so close. So – here is the reason for this e-mail – whats the deal with your track? Is it private (invite only) or can I head over some time and have a razz around? I read your post on using street/semi slicks which is fair enough.
Cheers
Paul
